Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with twelve other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother was a great way to get away from the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she could read or write and compose her own music. Her first guitar purchase came when she was 8 and began singing on an Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. She recorded her first album within the same calendar year Gold Band Records, a tiny independent label. Even though she was still at school, she already established herself within the local arena. However, her goal was to be able to play on a greater level. When she was graduating in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums from Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his television show that was syndicated around the exact time. Parton accepted the job in 1967 and signed with RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's band because the popularity of her individual records such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner she wrote the song I Will Always Love You and saw it climb to No. #1 for the first time since 1974.
