Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13th 1989) is an American musician and singer. Swift was raised in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She relocated to Nashville in Tennessee, at 14 to become a singer-songwriter. She signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and a recording contract with Big Machine Records in 2005. Her self-titled debut album in 2006 marked Swift as the first female country artist to have an album that was U.S.-certified platinum. Swift's next albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010), focused on country pop. The tracks "Love Story" and "You Belong with me" from the former were the first to be top of the U.S. all-genre and pop charts. Red (2012) featured her debut Billboard Hot 100 hit, "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together". 1989 (2014) saw her leave her country-oriented image. It was supported by the chart-topping "Shake It On", "Blank Space",and "Bad Blood". Reputation is a hip-hop album that featured the top-selling song "Look at What You Made Me Do", was the result of media scrutiny. Swift who had left Big Machine, signed with Republic Records for her seventh studio album Lover (2019), and followed it up with the autobiographical documentary Miss Americana 2020. With her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore Swift delved into alternative music and indie folk. The two singles "Cardigan", and "Willow" were atop the Hot 100. Swift began re-recording her previous six albums following a dispute over their masters. She released two albums in 2021--Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version). "All Too Well (10 minute version)" was the longest track to make it to the top of the Hot 100. Her 2022 album Midnights was released, and the single "Anti-Hero", broke records for streaming time. Swift has directed music videos as well as films including All Too Well: The Short Film (2021), and played supporting roles in others. Swift is one among the greatest-selling musicians ever. She has sold over 200 million copies across the world. Swift is the most streamed artist on Spotify. The five albums she has released have had over 1 million copies sold in the US. Twelve Grammy Awards including three Album of the Year nominations; an Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards; 29 Billboard Music Awards. 92 Guinness World Records are just a few of her many awards. Swift has been included in such rankings as Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Songwriters of All time; Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists; Forbes Celebrity 100; and Billboard’s 100 Greatest of All Time Artists. Swift, who was named Artist of the Decade and Woman of the Decade for her advocacy of women's rights and artists' empowerment, was honored with several titles.
